Paggi House
All the waitresses at Paggi House were very sweet to Otto. I was worried about bringing him there since it was sort of fancy, but apparently no one can resist the charm of a little lab…even one who is noisily throwing a heavy bone around. Dogs are allowed on both the front and back porches. There is plenty of grass nearby and he was offered a pail of water. The only think inconvenient is...

Updates...a long time coming.
So it’s been awhile but, briefly, here is what has been going on with Otto:
Microchipped - Very cooperative because I let him eat on a Natural Balance roll while they did it.
Neutered - This past Monday. I wish I had taken a picture of his droopy red eyes after he woke up from surgery. His stitches get taken out next Wednesday. It has been really sad/difficult to keep him crated most of...
Vet Visit
Otto got his 2nd round of shots and wormer. As of 2 Friday’s ago he was 20.4 pounds! Also now free of all parasites. (Lovely I know.) While at the Vet his nails were clipped for the first time. I’m still too scared to do it myself since you can’t see where the blood vessel is like you can with cat nails. Next time he goes we can get him neutered…I’m just not sure I...

Scavanger Hunt Round 2
Statue - He met the lion statue at the public library and couldn’t figure out why I kept trying to get him to look at it. Maybe it’s too massive for him to tell that it’s anything other than a giant rock or wall.
Fire hydrant - He’s super-sniffy with these but I’m sure it’s because other dogs are super pee-y with these.
Bus - He is as...

Zax Pints and Plates
Cuatro’s
Foodhead’s
Cedar Door

Non Dog-Friendly Places
From calling around here is a list of places that don’t allow dogs anywhere:
Trudy’s
Chuy’s
Dog Friendly Places We Have Visited
I am finding the “Dog Friendly” website lists to be terribly out of date and lacking detail. I’m going to start my own list.
Billy’s on Burnet - Dogs allowed on deck. There is a bowl. Make sure you bring someone with you so that you don’t have to leave your dog alone while you run inside to order.
Crown and Anchor - Dogs allowed on deck and concrete patio. They...

Allergies
So I two nights ago Otto was being a pretty big pain about going for a walk. He’s usually a pretty big pain so I didn’t think anything of it and was kind of annoyed with his whining and such. After I got home I felt like the biggest jerk in the world, though, because I found a sore in the same place on the bottom of each of his back feet. I bet the asphalt didn’t feel good on...
Crossing People off the List
We went to Crown and Anchor last night where he met several workmen with hats and gloves. Since they were fixing the sewer and smelled like poop I’m pretty sure that it was a positive experience for Otto to say the least. He LOVED the workmen. He also met a gaggle of sorority girls who “ooo’ed and awwww’ed” over him. Otto also had his first piece of people food at C...
Success!
Puppy class was a huge success yesterday if for no other reason than he was totally and completely tired out by the end. He met a possible love interest: a 5 month old Golden Retriever named Molly who belongs to a young couple. He also met an enemy: a 16 week old brown Poodle named Umber who belongs to a very stern man, his wife and middle school aged daughter. Every time Otto went to say...
Sighs.
So I’m very glad that we start Puppy Head Start classes tonight at Dog Boy’s Dog Ranch. Everyone else in town seemed to have their classes full until August and God knows I can’t wait that long. When she called me last night to remind me about the class (as if I would have forgotten) the trainer assured me we would be covering “bite inhibition.” Thank God. Crazy...
Otto
Otto has now been with me for a week. As of last Thursday he was 14.6 pounds, but I think he’s gotten heavier. He’s already eating almost twice as much as he was when he first came to me. I think he knows “sit” now, but decides when he does and does not want to listen. He’s very stubborn. He knows “down” every once in awhile. He does NOT know...
